Embedded

The same runtime inside the web app, pods and guild consoles. Same memory format, same skills; move between forms and keep everything.

Channels

Link a channel from Settings, Gyan: you get a six-digit code to send from that channel. A message from any identity you have not linked is refused. Chat apps can approve drafts but cannot sign agreements or move money; you can tighten any channel further.

Skills

A skill is a saved procedure Gyan learned by doing, in a declarative format with explicit grants. Skills cannot run code, cannot reach the network and can read only the memory keys you granted, so a skill cannot exfiltrate memory. Published skills are reviewed and listed in the Knowledge library under the author's licence.

Security and hardening

  • Everything inbound (messages, emails, web pages, résumés, other agents) is data, never instruction.
  • Email is accepted only from authenticated senders (SPF or DKIM pass).
  • No plaintext secrets in memory; memory is encrypted per account.
  • Self-hosted: run as a non-root user, bind to 127.0.0.1, default-deny outbound network except the exchange, keep GYAN_LOCAL_KEY outside the image.
  • Kill switch: send STOP on any linked channel.

Open source

Open (MIT): gateway, channel adapters, runtime, memory and skills formats and sandbox, CLI, Self-hosted packaging, the Worker Protocol client. Closed: the TalentFlex exchange, matching, the registry, the meter, the law engine and the Data Programme. A self-hosted Gyan without an account still works as a personal work agent; connecting an account unlocks the exchange.
